- Kerala YO’s were honoured to be part of the the first ever YOSICON conference held at Indian habitat centre, New Delhi during April27 – 28; 2024
- YOSI is a society for Ophthalmologists in training and/or are under 40 years of age with an aim to collaborate, network and learn from each other.
- Over the years, YOSI has been supported by AIOS to conduct their annual meet “AIOS-YOSI Forum” which allowed for the Young Ophthalmologists to get a perspective from their colleagues and peers.
- With the guidance of seniors, this year YOSI held its first annual standalone conference YOSICon 2024 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 27th and 28th April 2024. The sessions were focused on different academic and non-academic aspects of young ophthalmologists which was well attended by YOs across the country.
- Dr. Divya Nair from calicut attended as a faculty and participated in the retina case presentation competition and won the 2nd prize for the best case.
- Dr. Soumya P P from Palakkad attended as a panelist ,moderator and speaker for multiple sessions.She competed for the free paper and poster competition and also won the third prize for the video competition.
- Dr. Rakhi D’Cruz attended as a panelist , moderator and speaker and won the first prize for e-poster competition. She was also the part of the core planning committee of YOSICON conference.Dr Rakhi D’Cruz was awarded with the YOSI Appreciation award for her contributions at various YOSI platforms. She was also acknowledged with special recognition memento for coordinating the YO-Nite cultural programmes.
- Dr. Reshmi S from calicut participated as a speaker for two sessions and also participated in the eposter competition.
- Dr. Rakhi, Dr Divya and Dr. Reshmi also performed the Kerala dance at YO-nite cultural programme and was admired by all.
- Dr. John Davis Akkara from Kochi won the 2nd prize for YOSI-Photography contest
- Dr. Sharika Menon from Malappuram won 2nd prize for the yosi-GLAUCOMA-YO reels.
- Dr. Anjana S from calicut was awarded 1st prize for the retina case presentation for the competition held during AIOC KOCHI 2023.
